So this is the first item of the week....and there is a lot of ish to post...but why not break the idea of 'item' of the week with posting about a brand...aaahhh yes people I break rules(even parameters I setup).
DQM(Dave's Quality Meat) is a New York brand with major flavor. A lot of dope releases recently....I was raised in Seattle during the whole Grunge movement and I grew up wearing flannel jump offs, sneakers, and ball caps so I love this whole flannel movement recently...but it really is being over done. But I think DQM does it well and they have their own style that I really like. Their collabos tend to be very dope and the quality of goods tends to be relatively close to what they charge for the items(which is amazing for streetwear). So for this week SPZSHIP recommends DQM.
Complex on the DQM Dunk High Release..
Some fresh recent releases from DQM on the other side....

Mickey is probably the most forward thinking young artist in the hip-hop game. And hes a real lyricist. I've gotten a chance to catch him live and trust me dude is nice on the mic. Its not just studio swag.
Mickey Factz - Rapio 2 point Oh prod. Melo-X
Another week of finals @ UCLA(thank god I'm through with that) and another undie run...crazy ass kids it was mad cold out that night.
From my inbox a couple of days ago....Never heard of these guys, but I like this track...The remix is of Josh Wink's 'Higher State of Consciousness'..I love hard driving music....They are a Dj/Production duo out of Brighton, UK....
South Central - Higher State of Consciousness
So Sonic responds.......I'm not a fan of Hip-hop beef thats venal like this, but they are tests of character....I think its a part of hip-hop but I appreciate lyrical contests (in the classic sense of hip-hop) more.
Sonic blogs about responding

Pitch Fork TV is hosting a free online Screening of the cult Classic 'Electroma' for 24 hours tonight @ 8pm eastern time tonight. Don't miss it. Haven't seen it myself but I will definitely be checking it out. I've seen these guys without their masks. Much cooler with the masks. The movie looks craaazy. The movie has been screened around the world since 2006.
per wiki: Daft Punk's Electroma is a film by French duo Daft Punk. The plot revolves around the quest of two robots (the band members, played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich) to become human. The music featured in this film is not by Daft Punk. This is a first for the duo considering their previous film and home video releases, D.A.F.T. and Interstella 5555. While initially receiving mixed reviews, theatrical screenings of the film have since been well received.
Picked this one up off DJ Premier's blog
nice seeing Premier and Finese out here putting out some new music....
Lord Finese & Dj Mike Smooth - I Keep the Crowd Listening (DJ Premier Remix)

Alife is finally opening up their store in Hollywood on Cahuenga and closing down their pop-up shop on Fairfax. Alife will now be a part of the trendy 15twenty space in Hollywood moving from its home of the past year on Fairfax amongst other streetwear favorites like 'Hundreds', 'Supreme', 'Fresh Jive' and 'Flight Club LA'. We'll see if it pays off. Can you smell a store opening party??..
A great track off the album....From what I've seen from fans of N.E.R.D its probably the most popular. Ask me...I would of picked 'Yeah You' or 'You Know What'. The clip was directed by The Malloys ...Also features appearances by Rob Dyrdek(Rob & Big) and the WTF(thats just what I call it..dont go googling wtf) pants that Pharrell is wearing in the band shot. The video concept looks interesting.

No Jordan One Strap....or Vans X Proper....well I guess we need to wait till we are well into 2009 before we start deciding the best of 2008 since my faves were just released. Well I will agree with a couple of the kicks on the list, but after seeing this list all I can say is to each his own. Some people wont agree but I'm gonna go with the Jordan low Velcro and the Hyperdunks(marty mcflys are ridiculous) from this list....I'm still not sold on the Jordan XX3s... And those Shinoda joints are craaaazy!
Jordan Lows Velcro
check all the kicks out....
Sneaker Freaker Best of 2008
NEW DEAL MIXTAPE
Some bad dudes....
Cmon (on my own)
Its only a snippet...but pretty fresh!! Polow on the beat.
Eve - Do My Dance feat. Will.i.am (snippet)
Hip hop beef is generally some bullsh--. Don't get me started on this. This could potentially be a looooooong post. I'll say this....its really difficult to market an artist like Mickey Factz or Charles Hamilton cause they don't make music that easily falls in with the type of music that is played on the radio and in the clubs, because they're not a catchy hook or gimmic. They are hip-hop alternative. Labels don't know really how to market that genre. Hip-hop needs a grunge like paradigm shift....its long overdue. Bloggers are a big part of that.
what a week!...blogger banned my Digital girl post so don't ask me where its at.
For all my broke ass sale watchers who can't afford to be buying this expensive ass sh--......+ Can food so bring that can food and help somebody...
The first Hundreds X Disney items...

...street cred lets you get away with a lot....but try rocking any of those....
verdict = Cant fux with it myself.....but I'm sure itll sell like crazy to the Hundreds staple market....the burbs.

I like to see DJ's really just mix the music they like to listen to themselves. Shilo's We Make it Good Series is about just that. Getting famous DJ's to just create whatever mix they want. No focus on the club or playing songs everybody knows. So its Bmore club music icon Blaqstarr's turn. Make sure to check out xxxchange's mix of some movie classics(brilliant).

Hollwood Holt - Anthem(Mano)
what was I saying about auto tune..?
Now I'm always down for a good club track. This is a banger mos def but this is definitely a little different. Swizzy has long been one of hip-hop's most prolific producers. But the one thing he lacks is an lp that matches the level of his prouction mastery the way other greats have. I'm not holding my breath on that after listening to him try out his T-Pain...go ahead jump on the download ...
Hip Hop has gone Auto-tune crazy....track is dj tagged...
Swizz Beatz - Up in the Club feat. Lil Wayne
thanks Real Talk NY
Lets just say I'm cautiously optomistic. I know Cannon as a master of mixtapes but not of musical production and No I.D. (notwithstanding the fact hes Kanye's mentor) doesn't exactly have a string of hit records under his belt. So again cautiously optomistic that this will be some serious heat. thanks to Decatur Dan

Henok is one of My Favorite European artists to come out recently. His raps are mostly heart and guts. Henok is one to watch. This is a remix version of the original track 'Fly Fresh' that dropped not to long ago. I just heard this when I was checking out Caliroots Crooks & Castles Holiday 08/09 lookbook(Freshness btw). Anyway big up to Merkin(Thanks Rob) and DJ 2 Much and Caliroots on the lookbook and on using the track.
You can find out more about Henok from Real Talk NY's write up.

G.O.O.D music artist Big Sean jumps on this Kick Drum remix. Kick Drum is dope...and never seems to dissapoint on the remix. Waiting for that Big Sean sh-- to drop. I'm sure Kanye is a little busy right now, but......lets get to work Yeezy.

Its finally happening Charles Hamilton (Sonic Hamilton) is in the studio with Billion $ P and Chad to work on an lp. After signing to the Neptunes imprint Star Trak several months ago mixtapes have been released but no sign of an lp.
can't wait to see what they come up with.
CH after the Pharrell conversation and an intro to 'Sonic' Hamilton on the other side..
